Scope
ConvertToUnit provides unit converters, calculators, and related reference tools on the web and in a native Flutter mobile app. We do not operate user accounts, cloud sync, profiles, payments, or user-generated content systems.
This policy distinguishes three categories of information handling:
- A. Data stored locally by ConvertToUnit on your device (for example locale preference or in-app favorites).
- B. Data transmitted to third-party services that help deliver the website or app (for example live exchange rates, analytics, or advertising networks).
- C. Data ConvertToUnit does not collect into a user database— we do not maintain a ConvertToUnit account database of personal profiles, conversion history, or synced favorites.
Information We Process
ConvertToUnit itself does not ask you to create an account, and we do not operate a backend user database for profiles, login credentials, cloud-synced history, or payment records.
Depending on platform, the following may be processed:
- Website (converttounit.com): language/locale preference in browser localStorage; approximate country derived at the network edge (Cloudflare) to apply EU advertising and analytics gating; standard HTTP request data handled by hosting/CDN infrastructure; and data processed by Google Analytics (outside the EU) and Google AdSense as described below.
- Mobile app (net.converttounit.app): local preferences, recent conversions, favorites, and FX cache stored on-device; network requests for live FX and advertising/consent SDKs; advertising identifiers and related device/ad data that Google Mobile Ads / AdMob may process under Google's policies when ads are enabled in production.
ConvertToUnit does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, or broad storage/media permissions. The Android app is intended to use only INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE. There is currently no subscription or in-app payment system, no AI processing of your inputs for model training by ConvertToUnit, and no user-generated content hosting.
Local Device Storage
Website: We store your selected UI locale in browser localStorage under the key ctu_locale. Live FX responses may be held temporarily in page memory for performance and are not written to a ConvertToUnit cloud store.
Mobile app: Preferences, recent conversions, favorites, and FX cache are stored locally on your device. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app removes this on-device information. ConvertToUnit does not sync these items to a ConvertToUnit cloud account.
Advertising
Website: We use Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-5360309305593468). AdSense scripts load for site visitors. Based on edge country detection, visitors in the European Union receive non-personalized ads (NPA); outside the EU, personalized ads may be used. Google and its partners may process device, cookie, and advertising-related identifiers according to Google's policies.
Mobile app: Production builds are planned to use Google Mobile Ads / AdMob. Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent flow is implemented. Google Mobile Ads may process advertising identifiers and related device/ad data according to Google policies. ConvertToUnit does not receive a copy of that advertising data into a ConvertToUnit user database.
For more detail, see Google's Privacy Policy and Google advertising privacy resources.
Analytics
On the website, Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-V63LDQ6CVC) may load for visitors outside the European Union. For EU visitors, Analytics is not loaded by ConvertToUnit's current geo gate. Analytics may collect usage data such as page views, approximate location derived by Google, device/browser information, and similar metrics. ConvertToUnit does not operate a separate first-party analytics database of identified users.
The mobile app does not currently implement a separate ConvertToUnit analytics backend; advertising SDKs may still perform measurement as described by Google.
Currency / External API
Live currency rates are fetched from https://open.er-api.com/v6/latest/USD. Your device or browser contacts that third-party endpoint when FX features are used. Standard network metadata (such as IP address) may be visible to that provider. ConvertToUnit caches rates locally or in-session for performance; we do not store your conversion amounts in a ConvertToUnit cloud database.
Third-Party Services
Services involved in delivering ConvertToUnit include:
- Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, and edge geo headers used for EU advertising / analytics gating on the website.
- Google Analytics — website usage measurement (non-EU loading under current implementation).
- Google AdSense / Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) — advertising on web and planned advertising in the mobile app.
- open.er-api.com — live foreign-exchange rate data.
Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. ConvertToUnit does not control how third parties independently use data once it is transmitted to them.
Data Retention
Local on-device data remains until you clear it, reset the app, clear site data, or uninstall. In-memory FX caches on the website last only for the browsing session / cache TTL. Third-party services retain data according to their own retention practices. ConvertToUnit does not keep a cloud archive of your conversion history.
Children
ConvertToUnit is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children into a ConvertToUnit user database. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a third-party service linked here, contact us as described below so we can take appropriate steps within our control.
Security
We use industry-standard transport security (HTTPS) for the website and app network requests. Because much functionality runs client-side and relies on third-party networks, no method of transmission or local storage is perfectly secure. You are responsible for device-level protections on your phone or browser.
International Users
ConvertToUnit is available globally. Infrastructure and third-party providers (including Cloudflare and Google) may process data in countries other than where you live. Website advertising and analytics behavior currently differs for EU versus non-EU visitors based on network-edge country signals.
Your Choices
- Clear browser localStorage / site data to remove the saved locale preference.
- Use browser or OS controls to limit cookies, tracking, or advertising personalization.
- On the website, open Cookie Settings from the footer for available preference controls.
- In the mobile app, manage advertising consent via the Google UMP prompts (and OS advertising / privacy settings where available).
- Clear app storage or uninstall the app to remove local favorites, recent conversions, preferences, and FX cache.
- Use ad blockers or disable network access if you do not want third-party requests; some features (ads, live FX) may stop working.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the website, mobile app, or third-party integrations change. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when material changes are published. Continued use of ConvertToUnit after an update means you should review the revised policy.
